You will never get going until you do this and all the time spent designing the uniforms is just delaying the start of painting.

I was in the same boat for a while, mulling over colour schemes etc and then just started painting without a pre-defined uniform and it came together quite nicely, with a plausible uniform colour for my first unit.

All the best

FrankFrankhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06374706097599953143noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2950309919462791136.post-52952614374492958982007-08-03T20:08:00.000-05:002007-08-03T20:08:00.000-05:00Painted troops will still be a long time coming ye...Painted troops will still be a long time coming yet, but hopefully eventually. My first objective is to actually finish a company of the Lintzer regiment.

So far, I have faces and hands and gray coats and trousers on 5 figures of the necessary 7 (6 musketeers, 1 officer with spontoon).Snickering Corpseshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11207827630539622815noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2950309919462791136.post-86536464490855016282007-08-02T13:29:00.000-05:002007-08-02T13:29:00.000-05:00Wow!Can't wait to see some painted troops!cheersDa...Wow!
Can't wait to see some painted troops!
cheers
Davidmeadows boyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09600275894955630243noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2950309919462791136.post-87018576223514179502007-07-31T00:49:00.000-05:002007-07-31T00:49:00.000-05:00Fox Fur...Not easydark brown basedry-brush with a ...Fox Fur...

Not easy

dark brown base

dry-brush with a mix of brown/red ?Les Princes du Lichtenbourghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03597069353675983209noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2950309919462791136.post-69336699388275192092007-07-30T14:23:00.000-05:002007-07-30T14:23:00.000-05:00Hmmmm, for the fox fur, you might try a basecoat w...Hmmmm, for the fox fur, you might try a basecoat with a different color (or two) very lightly drybrushed over it . . . that might work.

-- JeffBluebear Jeffhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07595975572873838050noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2950309919462791136.post-91076970321444329572007-07-30T07:32:00.000-05:002007-07-30T07:32:00.000-05:00Give your lady wife my warm regards for her praise...Give your lady wife my warm regards for her praise! And thank you, as well. It's honestly been an interesting challenge doing the Hesse-Engelburg uniforms, because I bought one set of paints and I set a goal of making all the colors chosen be those of the paints I had on hand.

The two exceptions are:
1) Pink. I just had to have the pink coats, even though I have no pink paint. This is where making that index card of the formula used will be important.
2) The Fuchshöhle Hussars busby. That's one challenge I don't relish undertaking anytime soon. The intention is to find a color mixture that will properly simulate fox-fur.Snickering Corpseshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11207827630539622815noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2950309919462791136.post-34021868635664150422007-07-30T06:12:00.000-05:002007-07-30T06:12:00.000-05:00My dear lady wife very much approves of the color ...My dear lady wife very much approves of the color palette that Princess Gertrude has chosen.

While not my favorite colors, they do, in fact, look very good together. Very nice work . . . and the standard is quite striking too.

-- JeffBluebear Jeffhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07595975572873838050noreply@blogger.com
