I haven't posted in over a month here, but I promise I'm not dead. I've just been buried in work and other things the past few weeks, and wargaming has taken a backseat. I just started catching up on blogs a couple of days ago, with some 300 posts on my RSS reader, so I'm getting there. :>
Meanwhile, the only recent SYW-related activity is that I acquired a bagged set of all but one grenadier from a box of Revell SYW Prussian infantry off of Ebay for about $4. On that note, does anyone have a recommendation of a foot officer figure that could stand with a unit of Revell SYW Prussian infantry without looking odd? I can operate a battalion of these in my standard configuration if I do a 3-deep rank of firing poses, but the available poses leave me short 2 officers with spontoon and 2 foot officers with sword or cane.

Hi Jonathan,
Good to see you back!
As to your question -- Try one of the older figure ranges. The Scruby range might be able to supply you with officers ho don't stick out. Apparently, Jack Scruby designed his figures to work with 1/72 plastics although since the Revell figures you ask about are on the large side, this might not be the answer. But it's worth checking out with a few samples.
If you don't mind slightly large heads, the the MiniFig 25mm SYW Prussians could possibly be your answer. At least these are no taller than the Revell Prussians. See what other responses to your question you get here.
If you don't mind figures that are a bit bigger within the same unit, then of course, RSMs will serve nicely. Remember, there are several photos in Charge! where one can clearly see officers of a different make and (larger) size commanding the various companies of more diminutive Spencer Smith figures within the same infantry regiment. You might also ask over at OSW too. I'm sure someone there could give you the info. you seek.
Best Regards,
Stokes
Future Prussians or Hesse-Engelburgers?
Glad to read you again!
Jean-Louis
I'm debating between future Hesse-Engelburgers or future Ober-Schweinsberg forces.
Jonathan,
It is good to see you back here again.

Real life happens and when it does it can be a bitch sometimes.
This is your hobby though, so enjoy it when you can and don't feel pressured just because you have a blog :-)
All the best my friend,
Frank
Jonathan,
Just a note to let you know I got your e-mail ragarding a sample of my new figures.
However, as seems to be the case with Jean-Louis, our e-mail servers don't appear to like each other and my confirmation to you has been returned three times.
Don't worry though, you will get a sample :-)
Frank
