Slight Painting Progress

I got a little bit of time to paint again yesterday, and managed to complete the faces and hands on 9 musketeers, the face on the company officer, and repainted the cuffs, turnbacks, and lapels of my first figure white to allow for another try at the yellow facing color.

I've also started work on a map for Ober-Schweinsberg.

Which colour did you use under the yellow last time? I have just been painting yellow facings on myb first unit. The process I used was
1)Blak Undercoat
2)Tan (best description I have)
3)Murky Yellow*
4)Bright Yellow

*Midway between 2 + 4

Will try to post some photos.

Originally, it had basalt gray in some areas, only because of over-painting from the adjacent coat color. I have some concern that the pigment on the yellow has broken down, but I'm trying overpainting with white first to see if it's merely the strength of the gray that's the problem.

I know that some yellows cover much better than others . . . and it isn't necessarily the brighter ones that do so . . . it seems to go very much paint by paint.

By the way, I mostly use the 'craft acrylics' (such as Ceramcoat). They are often on sale for 2 oz bottles for less than a buck . . . and they have worked well for me.
